Pan is Beautiful XII 2013

Pan is Beautiful XII opened at Queen’s Park Savannah, Port-of-Spain, on Saturday the 5th of October. This year’s festival is entitled Festival is Respect The Pan, Play It With Pride. The set test piece, Respect The Steelband, was composed and sung by Dr Leroy Calliste, better known as Black Stalin.
On Saturday, the first of two preliminary rounds featured eleven soloists and five ensembles who performed before the adjudication panel and a small audience. The second round took place on Sunday 6th of October, and San Fernando based Golden Hands took top honours, with Fusion Steel taking seond place. Third place went to defending champions, Stryke Stars of Laventille.

In the soloist category, Keisha Codrington placed first and Joshua Jabari Bedeau placed second. There was a tie for third place, between Khari Codrington and Anthony Phillip of CAL Invaders.

In total, six pan ensembles and seven soloist will compete in the finals on Friday 8th of November, at the National Academy for the Performing Arts in Port-of-Spain.
